2017 almost felt like Deja Vu. Another invite to Berlin for the second anniversary evening in honour of Edgar Froese. Another great night, catching up with old and new acquaintances. Watching Tangerine Dream perform a live improvised set standing beside Robert Waters. A wonderful evening enjoying my favourite band with likeminded people.
In the meantime my first album signed to Pink Dolphin Records: 'I Only Have Eyes For You' gets its contract signed and is set for release in June 2017. With the wonderful feedback and enjoyment of the 'Time' album, I produced the sister album 'Space' released in February 2017. This album drew even more attention and Paul Rigby, Editor of Record Collector UK wrote a marvellous review of this album. It was a humbling moment in my career.
Meanwhile, Chris Watt's continued to play my music across his airwaves, enjoying the 'Time' album. In April I journeyed to the Cotswold's to join Chris on his show 'In the Moog' where I had a fabulous 2 hours in the studio.
Early May, I ventured to my first E-Scape festival in Suffolk whereby I met a number of artists and saw them perform in a great location. These artists were David Wright, Ian Boddy & Mark Shreeve, all artists that I have known and listened to for over 25 years, but never met or seen live. This day was a truly wonderful day and the live music was beautiful.
An album to be my last release of 2017 titled: 'Destiny' finally was finished by the middle of May. A track called 'Axe Happy', a follow-up to 'Hammer Blows' is a track on this album and has been played twice on 'In the Moog'. The album is not set for release until October.
As a result of the success and great feedback received from appearing on 'In the Moog', this has given birth to the rise of a radio show I intend to launch at the end of June. With a number of artists in agreement to meeting and supporting me in this venture, the show will feature predominantly the life and work of Tangerine Dream and artists that have either been inspired or influenced by the group. It will be a radio show that brings artists together and become a platform for networking and showcasing the many hours of timeless music produced over the last 40+ years.
In June, I met folk in the business in London & Berlin and have further contributions streaming in via online media.
In July I attended a Gary Numan rehearsal and towards the end of the same month, visited Standon Calling to see some memorable acts, including Grace Jones. The latter part of the year included Wolfgang Flur, Kasabian, Holly Johnson, The Prodigy. Empathy Test.
